This project develops a comparative analysis of education policies of the seventeen Autonomous Communities in Spain. The project reviews the specific historical context in which the process of educational decentralisation took place in Spain and places the Spanish education system in its international context. Several dimensions of regional education systems are analysed, including differences in educational results and a typology of educational regimes based on different modes of educational provision. The study also includes an analysis of those factors explaining the main differences in educational regimes.
