Josep Espluga
Member Position: 

PhD in sociology, and master in occupational health. He is currently senior lecturer at the Department of Sociology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is researcher of the Public Policies and Government Institute (IGOP), member of the Social Policies Analysis Seminar (SAPS), and of the Research Group on Agriculture, Livestock and Food in Globalization (ARAG-UAB).

Formerly he was teaching at the School of Social Work “Red Cross” of Lleida (Universitat de Lleida), and doing research at the National Centre of Working Conditions (Instituto Nacional de Seguridad e Higiene en el Trabajo) of the Spanish Ministry of Work, at the Avedis Donabedian Foundation (Foundation for the Improvement of Health Care), and at the CIREM Foundation (Centre for European Research in the Mediterranean). He was research fellow at the Department of Urban Development at the Università degli Studi di Venezia (Italy), and visiting scholar at the Institute for Studies of Science, Technology and Innovation – ESRC Innogen Centre (University of Edinburgh).

His main research deals with the relationships between health, work, environment and territory, with particular attention to the social perception of technological risks and to the socioenvironmental conflicts. He also researched on social identities and sociolinguistic topics.
