Bio: 

Llicenciada en Sociología por la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona en el año 2004. Máster en políticas públicas y sociales por la Universidad Pompeu Fabra y John Hopkins University, años 2006-2008. Desde el año 2004 ha participado en diferentes proyectos de investigación, principalmente en el ámbito de la sociología de la educación, con el grupo de investigación GEPS y la Fundación Jaume Bofill. Ha colaborado puntualmente en proyectos en la Universidad de Girona y la Universidad de Lleida.
Asímismo ha realizado trabajos como educadora con diferents colectivos de infancia y adolescencia en situación de riesgo social. En esta línea, ha trabajado dos años en la Asociación Catalana para la Infancia Maltratada (ACIM) en Barcelona, en el ámbito de la explotación sexual infantil y derechos de la infancia.
Actualmente, coordina el Programa de asesoramiento a municipios de la Fundación Jaume Bofill, realizando estudios de diagnosis y propuestas de política educativa en el ámbito de la lucha contra la segregación escolar. Es formadora de técnicos municipales de educación en la DIBA (Diputación de Barcelona), y professora asociada a la Facultad de Educación de la UAB.

Valiente O

Bio: 

Oscar Valiente holds a PhD in Sociology from the UAB. He joined the University of Sussex in January 2012 as a lecturer in International Education and Development at the Centre for International Education (CIE). Before getting this position, he worked for the OECD in Paris, first at the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) and later at the Programme for Institutional Management in Higher Education (IMHE).

He has also worked for the Obsevatory on Vocational Education of Barcelona and the Jaume Bofill Foundation. His main research interests are Public Private Partnerships for education, TVET in Regional Development and Technology in Education for Development.

He has recently published on this issues in Cuadernos de Pedagogía, Revista Iberoamericana de Educación, Journal of Education Policy, International Studies in Sociology of Education and in several edited volumes.

Perez R

Bio: 

Roser Pérez Giménez holds a PhD in Sociology but the UAB, and Degrees in Nursery and Social Work. Currently, she is the acadèmic coordinator of the Nursery Degree and lecturer in Social Sciences and Health on the Nursery and Occupational Therapy degrees at the Red Cross Universitary School, which is adscrit to UAB.

Her research analyzes social inequalities in health and health policies, as well as the diagnosis in communitary health. Currently, she is part of an inter-university research project about health inequalities in frontier areas (triple frontierin the South of Brazil)' with the Universidade de Sta. Catalina (Florianópolis / Brazil).

Frías C

Bio: 

Carla Ortega Frías has a degree in Social Work (UCV, 1995), a Masters on Social Policy and Local Development (2002)and a PhD in Sociology (UAB, 2009).

She has taught at the Universidad Central de Chile and the Universidad Cardenal Silva Henriquez. Was a research associate at the Research Group ‘Women Studies Seminar’ (UAB, 2006-2009) and freelance researcher for the Center for Public Policy (UC, 2010).

She held various positions at the National Foundation for Overcoming Poverty in Chile (1996-2002), such as Coordinator of the ‘Community Development and Citizenship’ thematic area, and program advisor and regional coordinator of the program “Servicio País”. She is currently Professor at the University of Chile and collaborates with the Ministry of Finance of Chile as an expert in the Governmental Programs Assessment Panel.

Her main research areas are social inequalities in education and health, public policy and decentralization, and poverty and equity.

Serracant P

Bio: 

Pau Serracant is a sociologist specialised in youth issues and policies. He has an MA on Public Management by the IDEC and a PhD by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona focused on the impact of the economic crisis on youth trajectories. He has directed the last Catalan Youth Surveys (2007, 2012 and 2017) and has done research for several national and international institutions. He was a member of the Steering Committee on Youth Policies of the Council of Europe, member of the Board of the Research Committee Youth and Generations of the European Sociological Association, has taken part in the evaluation of the Catalan Youth Plan and is the coordinator of the Working Group on Youth of the Catalan Sociological Association.

Jacovkis J

Bio: 

Judith Jacovkis holds a PhD in Sociology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Since 2007, she is a member of GEPS, where started working with a PhD grant. In 2011, she defended her thesis titled “Producción de pobreza y violencia en la política social. El caso argentino”.

As a PhD candidate at the UAB she lectured in the Sociology, Political Science and Communication degrees, and supervised numerous students’ researches. Recently, she has collaborated with GEPS in the project “Más allá de la focalización: Educación, desarrollo y lucha contra la pobreza en el Cono Sur. Análisis de las aplicaciones de la nueva agenda política global en la región”.

Her main research areas are the study of the anti-poverty policies and the mechanisms of poverty production, and the analysis of the relations between state and citizenship as mediated by social policy. She has recently published about these themes in the journals International Journal of Educational Development and Convergencia. Revista de Ciencias Sociales.
