Marina López Leavy is a PhD researcher and “La Caixa” INPhINIT Fellow at the Sociology Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In 2025, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to become a visiting doctoral researcher at Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Sciences from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina) and an International Master’s degree in Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) and the University of Glasgow (UK), funded by an Erasmus+ Excellence Scholarship from the European Commission.
She has worked as a consultant for international organizations including IIEP-UNESCO, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Dialogue, as well as for the National Ministry of Education in Argentina and the City of Buenos Aires. Her research focuses on the evolution, institutionalization, and uses of large-scale learning assessments in Latin America. Her broader interests include international and comparative education, comparative policy and politics, the sociology of expertise, and the linkages between knowledge and public policy.
