Marta Curran is an Associate Professor of Applied Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her research, based on a qualitative and intersectional perspective, focuses on the reproduction of educational inequalities. She analyzes the impact of educational policies and school practices on the educational trajectories and lived experiences of secondary school students, with particular attention to the intersections of social class and gender. She has conducted in-depth research on topics such as early school leaving, educational transitions, and the internationalization of education. She is the author of more than thirty publications on these topics and actively participates in competitive research projects, including the current LEARNER Project. She also collaborates with public administrations and foundations to translate academic knowledge into educational policy recommendations. She combines this research with university teaching and is a member of the GRISE and TRANSOC research groups, the GEPS (Group of Sociological Research and Social Studies), and the editorial boards of Education Policy Analysis Archives and Papers.
