Núria Roca Samon is currently a PhD researcher in the Sociology Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), affiliated with the research group Globalisation, Education & Social Policies (GEPS). Her research project focuses on analysing teacher stratification in the Catalan education system and its connection to existing patterns of school segregation. It examines how teacher mobility and retention are associated with the social composition of schools, and the extent to which these dynamics may contribute to inequalities in the distribution of teachers between schools, particularly those with higher levels of social vulnerability. She holds a degree in Sociology (2017) and a master’s in Social Policy, Work, and Welfare (2020), both from UAB.
Her main research interests in the sociology of education include teacher stratification, school segregation, teacher policies, educational inequalities and social exclusion, social class reproduction, and social justice. Currently, she is a member of the research team for the ARED research project (UB and UAB), which focuses on analysing teacher attraction, retention, and stratification in Catalonia. She has collaborated on several research projects related to educational policies at the Catalan local level, youth identities, gender, and associative participation. Additionally, she has worked as an instructor for the course Strategies Against School Segregation at the Department of Education of the Catalan Government.
