Relmu Gedda holds a degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Education with a specialisation in Educational Assessment from Universidad de La Frontera, Chile. He is currently a PhD researcher in the Department of Sociology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, affiliated with the research group Globalisation, Education & Social Policies (GEPS). His primary research and work focus is in higher education, particularly on educational inequalities and their effects on the transition experiences and trajectories of non-traditional students. His doctoral thesis aims to develop a comprehensive concept of university permanence of first-generation students. The study is centered on understanding how the experiences and trajectories of these students, often considered disadvantaged in the higher education field, are shaped to enable them to persist until they reach the final stages of their tertiary education.
